Vivo V15 Pro Review: Design and Build
Just as the Vivo V11 Pro that it succeeds, the Vivo V15 Pro stays on top of modern design trends. There is no notch and the selfie sensor is now housed within a pop-up module. The proximity sensor and light sensors are concealed under the screen. The uninterrupted display surely makes the phone stand out and feel different, which in itself counts as an accomplishment in our book.
The bezels are slim all around (around 91% screen-to-body ratio, claims Vivo), and the tapered glass finish back panel ensures that the phone is a breeze to handle. The AI triple camera module protrudes out, but not in a jarring manner. And the bundled case in the box has been designed to keep it safe from daily wear and tear.
The back panel has a gradient finish and a subtle texture. The blue color Vivo V15 Pro that we have with us doesn’t feel overly flashy and should strike as agreeable to most people. The Red variant which we briefly glimpsed from afar has a fine crosshatch pattern and looks stunning too.
Vivo V15 Pro Review: Face Unlock and In-display fingerprint sensor
Unlocking the phone is very convenient. The in-display fingerprint sensor is easy to access and works as good as the sensor on OnePlus 6T. In case it doesn’t, just delete your finger data and reconfigure it.
Vivo V15 Pro Review: Display
Vivo is using an excellent quality AMOLED panel with high contrast and vivid colors. Unlike IPS LCD display phones from Vivo, you get an Always on display widget and color temperature adjustment – both of which are value additions we wouldn’t want to miss on any phone.
Also, there is a good quality plastic screen protector on the display with proper smudge resistant oleophobic coating.
The display is uninterrupted and seamless (sans cutouts of any sorts) and strikes as a refreshing change, even when we are fairly accustomed to cutouts or notches by now. The software still doesn’t fully populate the status bar and after 2 to 3 app icons, you see the list truncated by triple dots.
We didn’t face any issue using the phone outdoors.
Vivo V15 Pro Review: Performance and Software
The Vivo V15 Pro is the first phone with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 675 mobile platform that has come our way. The SD 675 is an 11nm process based chipset with 2 high-end Cortex-A76-based Kryo 460 cores and 6 Cortex-A55-based Kryo 460 silver cores. Apart from overall improvements against other series-600 SoCs, the Snapdragon 675 includes a powerful ISP and an extra camera connect which enables it to manage feed from three cameras simultaneously.
Yes, you can score Series-800 chipsets in the same budget, but the performance we are getting on the Vivo 15 Pro is nothing short of flagship grade. Apps open quickly and high-end games run without any hiccups.

Vivo V15 Pro Review: Camera
The Vivo V15 Pro has three cameras on the back and one on the front. The primary rear camera and the pop-up selfie camera use Samsung’s GM1 and GD1 sensors with 48MP and 32MP resolution, respectively. These snappers are, however, designed to deliver the best results in 12MP and 8MP resolution.
If you still insist, there is provision to shoot full 48MP and 32MP images as well.
Apart from these sensors, the Vivo V15 Pro also has a wide-angle camera and a depth sensor. The camera software adds some new features including a Night mode that requires you to hold your phone steady for a few seconds. As night modes on Huawei or Pixel phones, this one too uses AI to counter handshakes while you are at it.
Vivo V15 Pro Review: Battery and Connectivity
The Vivo V15 Pro has a 3700mAh battery and thanks to the power efficient hardware and software, we had no trouble lasting through a heavy usage day. Having said that, we noticed a steep battery drop while playing PUBG.
The phone supports dual engine fast charging that can quickly top up the battery. Charging time from 10 percent to 100 percent is around one hour 30 minutes.
Vivo V15 Pro Review with Pros and Cons
The V15 Pro is a thoroughly impressive phone from Vivo that gets most things right and justifies its price tag. The phone brandishes an unconventionally cool design, is an excellent performer, has an impressive set of cameras for the asking price, a gorgeous AMOLED display, great battery backup, and a perfectly apt in-display fingerprint sensor.
On the downside, the Funtouch UI still needs some improvement, and the regular micro USB port feels regressive. Lack of HD streaming support on Netflix and Prime videos is a bit disheartening too.
Pros
- Excellent (notch-free) display
- Cool design
- Excellent performance
- Battery backup
- Great camera performance
Cons
- No USB Type-C port
- No HD streaming support
- UI needs some polishing
