A new patent from Vivo shows that the company might be working on a smartphone with a very unique camera feature. The camera will have the ability to detach from the smartphone and fly in the air to enable users take photos creatively. The patent has been filed in December 2020 with the World Intellectual Property Office.
LetsGoDigital was the first to spot this patent by Vivo. The camera is apparently going to have the ability to change position in the air, while shooting. This makes it somewhat similar to drone cameras popularly used in shooting videos and movies today. The report said that Vivo’s camera may also support Air Gestures.
Vivo struck a deal with Carl Zeiss last year, with the aim of bringing more value to its camera systems. The company’s Vivo X50 Pro smartphone and its successor were also praised for their camera systems. However, a flying camera would be an industry first. Of course, this is just a patent and there’s no certainty on the launch of such a handset in the future. In fact, the practicality of such an idea is quite doubtful with today’s technology.
