Samsung has today launched Galaxy M10 in India. The smartphone comes in two variants – 2GB RAM with 16GB storage at Rs 7,990 and 3GB RAM with 32GB storage at Rs 8,990. It will be available on Amazon India and the company’s own online store starting Feburary 5, 2019.
Display and Design
Starting with the design, Samsung Galaxy M10 features a polycarbonate plastic body with plain glass finish giving a premium look. There is waterdrop notch at the front, which gives a pretty immersive look in this price range. The notch houses front-facing camera and just above it is the earpiece. The chin area is kept ideal due to on-screen navigation controls.
The rear of the device features dual cameras with the LED flash. Just beneath it, one will find the Samsung branding. The top of the front features waterdrop notch featuring the front camera. At the bottom, we have a micro USB port, a secondary microphone for noise cancellation, 3.5 mm headphone jack. The speaker grill is at the back of the phone. On the right side, we have power on/off button and volume controls while the left has the 3-Slot SIM tray, which allows you to use two SIM as well as a micro-SD card at the same time. Now coming to display, the device features a 6.22-inch HD+ display with a screen resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels. It sports the trending full-screen display with 19:9 aspect ratio. The phone is 161 grams in weight and is quite light and comfortable to hold. The phone measures at 155.6 x 75.6 x 7.7mm. The phone does not feature a fingerprint sensor but uses face unlock technology for unlocking the phone which we found to be quite fast in unlocking the device.
Hardware and Software
Coming to the hardware specifications, the device is powered by 14nm octa-core Exynos 7870 processor. The phone comes in different memory configurations including a 2GB RAM + 16GB storage option and 3GB RAM + 32GB storage variant. That said, the Galaxy M10 is providing an average processor in this price range. Looking at the sheer specifications, the device will face stiff competition with the likes of Asus Zenfone Max M2, Micromax Infinity 11 and Mobiistar X1 Notch. We will present an in-depth analysis of this new smartphone pretty soon.
For optics, Samsung Galaxy M10 features a dual-camera setup at the back, which comes with a combination of a 13-megapixel main module (f/1.9, 1.12µm) and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. The rear camera features a wide-angle lens which allows you to capture a lot more of a scene in a frame. For enabling it, one can change the field of view with a simple tap. For the front, the company has employed 5-megapixel shooter for selfies and video calling.
During our brief testing period, we found out that the device taking decent photos in proper lighting conditions but we are still to test the camera capabilities in different lighting conditions. The selfie camera also did a decent job in our testing time. We will be using the Samsung Galaxy M10 thoroughly over the next few days and will let you know the camera quality in a detailed full review. Tune in with us for a detailed review later.
