Planefinder 978MHz receiver

Lee Armstrong

This week we welcomed the news from the CAA and Ofcom that the 978MHz spectrum is being made available to drones. Plane Finder has been busy with 978MHz for several years now.

In the USA, we’ve successfully detected this traffic for some time now, and we’re looking forward to seeing it in action in the UK. Our latest generation of Plane Finder Radar has direct 978MHz reception capability. Moreover, we’re proud to announce that Plane Finder is progressing towards 978MHz broadcast functionality. Last year, we showcased a FIS-B broadcast, with a TIS-B broadcast scheduled for later this year.

Really exciting times, and a digital future in the skies is coming!
