Honor Band A1 – A Fitness Tracker With UV Sensor For Just $15

Honor is a new brand from Huawei. The brand reached media coverage last year in October, with the launch of its first wearable tracker, the Band Z1.

This time, Huawei is announcing its second wearable device, the Honor Band A1.

HONOR BAND A1 – FEATURES AND SPECS

The Honor Band A1 has a metallic body, assorted with silicone or leather straps. Available in various colours, the A1 can track most of your daily activities such as the exercise time; the distance walked and the calories consumed. More than that, the bracelet also features an advanced sleep tracking mode that can measure and advise on the quality of your sleep.

The Honor Band A1 weighs 20g and is IP57 dust and water resistant. IP57 means that the tracker is not swimming pool friendly, but it is safe enough for taking it with you if you are going to run in the rain.

If you prefer visual notifications, the tracker features an LED light for subtle notifications but if that is not sufficient, the band is fitted with a vibration sensor that gives you a nudge when new messages or emails come through.

More important, the device has a UV light sensor that lets you know when it is time to cover up or to put on the sunscreen. On the downside, there is no HR sensor in the new Honor Band A1. However, this was somehow expected considering the very low price of the band.

HONOR BAND A1 – BATTERY LIFE AND RELEASE DATE

The A1 has a 70mAh battery that lasts up to 28 days on standby and can be charged via a standard micro-USB port.

You can get your silicone band Honor Band A1 for only 99 yuan (U.S. $15) However, if you want the model with the leather strap, you’ll have to pay double the amount. That is 199 yuan or $30 in the U.S.

You can pre-order your A1 right now, but only if you are in China. The band is going on sale this month, May the 25th. No details about the global roll out yet, but make sure to bookmark this page to be the first one to find out.
